Manomet: On The Front Lines of Bird Flu Defense

Manomet is a one of the world's oldest and most respected independent environmental research organizations. Whether the issues concern growing food, wildlife or forestry, Manomet has been one of the most active organizations on this planet when it comes to safeguarding nature. With a primary focus on conservation, Manomet has led conservation initiatives throughout the Western hemisphere.

Among many other things, Manomet is also involved in helping prepare us for a looming avian flu pandemic. If a pandemic is going to occur on this continent, many believe it will originate in the Arctic, because that is where the broadest range of migratory bird species are present. In lieu of this, Manomet is leading teams of scientists to the Arctic where they are conducting field tests of shorebirds for H5N1 and other relevant data.
